Visa Free Countries
The following people are exempt from having to obtain a temporary visa: People who hold a current resident return visa issued by the Government of Australia; and Citizens of the following countries who will be granted on arrival, Permits for Visits up to 3 months:

* Portuguese passport holders must also have the right to live permanently in Portugal.

*** Residents of Hong Kong travelling on Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or British National (Overseas) passports.
**** Visa-Waiver does not apply to people travelling on aliens' (non-citizen's) passports issued by these countries
People travelling on a United Nations (UN) laissez-passer.
Visits up to 6 months British citizens and other British passport holders who produce evidence of the right to reside permanently in the United Kingdom may visit New Zealand for up to 6 months without a visa. Effective January 2005 Visa-free visitors must show either return air tickets or tickets for travel from NZ to another country for which a visa is held or not required. Evidence of sufficient funds for personal support for the duration of the stay in NZ will also be required.
